Membership Service Committee
Membership Service Committee
The two key duties of the membership committee are recruitment and retention of members.
Recruitment of new members involves:
- Publicising the club and its activities in a manner that will attract potential new members
- Following up membership inquiries with first contact and invitation to meetings/events
- Ensuring visitors / potential new members feel welcome and involved
- Maintaining follow-up contact to gauge their interest, leading towards submitting a proposal of membership to club council
- If not interested, try to gather feedback as to why and perhaps what Rotary was not offering as an organisation
Retention of existing members involves:
- Asking current members whether the club has the right mix of activities
- Discussing with new members their expectations
- Ensuring new members are made aware of the wider aspects of Rotary at district, national and international levels, including the role of the Rotary Foundation
- Promoting within the club the founding principles of Rotary, including the Object of Rotary and the 4-way test
- Surveying departing members on their reasons for leaving (if relevant), and on any other feedback from their time in the club.
- Using information gathered to propose new activities, projects etc. to better fulfil the wishes of members
