Club Meeting & Guest Speaker on Kids Out – on Zoom – 26th May 2020
May 26 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Glyn Rees from Witney Rotary is the KidsOut Ambassador for Rotary in District 1090 across the Thames Valley. Kids Out is a charity with a long association with Rotary across Great Britain and Ireland, and in our District many clubs take part in the days out and provide financial support for the charity’s work.
From the Kids Out website:
“The first Rotary KidsOut National Day Out took place 25 years ago on the 13th June 1990 for only a couple hundred children. Organised by Kingston Rotary Club and Littlewoods organisation as a trial day, it proved so successful that the next year it was spread across the UK. Today KidsOut partners with Rotary to take more than 25,000 disadvantaged children on our National Day Out each year and thousands more through Fun Days. Through these initiatives KidsOut has taken hundreds of thousands of children on a fun day and provided thousands more with a Toy Box.
Whatever their disadvantage, KidsOut brings fun and excitement into children’s lives as well as hope for a better future. Believing that every young person has a right to happiness, through its life-changing work KidsOut plays a key role in shaping the future for the better.”
With the current pandemic, the days out have been cancelled and many fundraising activities also cancelled. One initiative that we will hear about is the support offered to children in Women’s Aid refuges across the UK. KidsOut works in partnership with the Direct Line group delivering boxes of toys and food vouchers to all families in the Women’s Aid refuges.
We will also report on activities across the Rotary District, where many clubs are helping local community groups and individuals affected by the covid-19 pandemic.
Visitors are very welcome, from any timezone. To join us, either email a member of our club or use the contact form on this website. We will then send you the Zoom link.
